thank you for your interest in freeway! we are a covid-free slice of life community based in los angeles and its surrounding counties. though we are slice of life, characters are invited to be creative and are welcome to use faux credits if so inclined. we want to make this a fun, welcoming place where writers feel free to grow and develop their characters without fear of judgement or issue. collaboration and interaction is the name of the game, and the mods will do our part to keep things active and interesting. we look forward to having you join us!

join us

before applying, please make sure you've checked off the following: usernames should be ooc without unnecessary numbers, underscores, or letters. if you need help finding a journal, we suggest using purged and rename as references. you must have two backdated in character (friends-only) and out of character (screened) posts. bios are not required, but we ask that you at least have some basic details such as your character's name, hometown, birthday, occupation, and a few general facts! we do understand that as you develop your character in game, some things may change. as long as it's realistic, we welcome any updates to their bio/history. we do require examples in the form of at least one narrative and one scene. it's encouraged you provide us with your most recent and well-written examples. please use the dropbox when submitting. if your application was deleted, it means you were rejected as we felt your character was not a good fit. we reserve the right to deny applications without explanation. however, if we do discover an issue that's an easy fix, we will contact you first and ask you to modify before approving your application. as mentioned in the rules, pbs are first-come, first-serve and we do not accept challenges.

activity

once you've been accepted into freeway, you have 72 hours to post an introduction in intersection. please do your best to try and answer the majority of comments in your intro. by not replying, we will assume you are doa which can result in the removal of your character each month requires two activity requirements. when first joining, your intro post can act as one requirement unless you are added the last week of the month, in which case your intro will count towards both requirements. we are looking for at least two updates per month, which can include anything from social media posts and lyrics to traditional narratives or anything else that involves writing. while we always love to see narratives, we are an interactive community and encourage you to interact on the fp and make connections! since we want this to be a fun and engaging community, you can also use either a comm-wide plot post or an ffa as part of your interaction. if you choose to post an ffa, we ask that you do not enable anonymous commenting unless you have permission from the mods. all activity should be dropped off in the activity post. to maintain active members, we ask that you keep your friends list updated. we will do removals every sunday as well as at the end of each month for those who have not maintained their friends list or submitted activities. your friends list must be visible to us. we will post a reminder to submit your activities on each add cycle, but if you are removed for inactivity, you will need an update to reapply. hiatus & extensions: if you need to take a hiatus or request an extension, please contact the members post. if requesting an extension, you will be given an extra week to update. we won't grant two extensions in a row, however, so we suggest a hiatus if you anticipate needing longer. apps: while we do allow messaging apps such as wire or discord, your first source of interaction should be customs and keeping the fp active and engaging. we understand that sometimes apps are easier to use, but we want to encourage you to welcome new members with a big focus on fun community interaction.

faux credits

since we are a community set in the los angeles area, we will be allowing members to use faux credits in game. below are our guidelines, but don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or inquiries! credits: each member is permitted one option for credits per character. you may use as much or as little from the celebrity's body of work you choose. we simply ask that nobody pick up multiple credits for one character. for example: if your character is an actor, you are free to use any or all of the roles from that actor's filmography, past or present. we will not allow the use of varying actors' roles to build up the body of work for one character. restrictions: we do not accept the use of credits from celebrities considered 'a-list' so please be mindful of this when making your selections. the way in which the mods will be judging popularity in this instance is by looking at the celeb's instagram follower count. if the celeb in question has a follower count that exceeds the 75 million mark, they will not be accepted for the use of credits in this game.
